CAM is excited to share our new frequently asked questions, the course descriptions, and the curriculum map for California's first community college Licensed Midwife Associate of Science degree program.

As we move forward with prerequisites in 2026 and  the program’s midwifery launch in fall 2027, you can receive updates and touch and submit questions here.

Background

In the Fall of 2024, CAM identified Cerro Coso as the pilot community college to house California's first Licensed Midwife Associate of Science degree program. Together we seized a late-breaking opportunity to secure a $500k grant from the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) to fund the program.

GAMECHANGER

That's the only word to describe the impact the Cerro Coso Community College licensed midwife education program will have on the future of midwifery in California:

  • Affordable (@ $4k total cost for California residents)
    .
  • Accessible (hybrid learning with clinical training offered statewide)
    .
  • Essential (we must end the urgent shortage of community midwives and meet the critical need for more BIPOC midwives)
    .

CAM thanks our generous community of midwifery supporters across the state, as well as our visionary partners in the philanthropic community who helped make this program possible.
