Biddy Mason Scholarship – Survey – Californians for the Advancement of Midwifery

While it is clear that there are few Black licensed midwives in California available to meet the needs of California birthing families, it is not clear how many Black people want to become midwives and/or how many Black student midwives there are and what their needs are. Therefore, the Black Midwives Advisory Group and CAM are conducting the following survey to better understand the community needs of Black student midwives, aspiring Black student midwives, newly licensed Black licensed midwives and future Black licensed midwives.
We understand that blackness is not monolithic or a singular experience and we are committed to serving the needs of Black birthing folks by supporting midwives who are representative of diverse communities. We will use this information gathered here to better understand needs in our community, so that we can plan for fundraising and future support.
